OUR HISTORY
Queer Works was originally formed in 2018. Queer Works was founded and is led by Jacob Rostovsky, MA, LMFT. Jacob is a therapist and an out transgender man whose personal experiences facing rejection and discrimination in healthcare inspired the creation of the organization. We are based completely virtual throughout California.
In 2024, we have decided to move our mission completely towards mental health care and access for the TGI community.
Our primary focus is our free mental health program designed to promote health equity within the transgender and gender non-binary (TGI) community. We aim to provide accessible mental health services by connecting TGI individuals with licensed therapists who have expertise in working with the community's unique needs.
The therapy services we offer are available for free to those who are unable to afford them. Our program also includes support groups and workshops to promote mental wellness and community-building among TGI individuals.
At Queer Works, we understand the unique challenges that TGI individuals face when seeking mental health services. Our goal is to empower the community by providing the support and resources they need to take control of their mental health and advocate for their well-being.

Our dedicated program for the TGI community is committed to delivering accessible and affirming mental health support to those who identify as transgender, nonbinary, genderqueer, intersex, or anywhere along the gender spectrum. Our program offers a range of mental health resources, including individual counseling, group therapy, support gatherings, and educational workshops. You can request counseling through our provided form.
Our program is staffed by experienced mental health professionals who have received specialized training in working with TGI individuals. They possess a deep understanding of the unique challenges and experiences that members of this community may encounter. Our therapists and counselors create a safe and inclusive environment where individuals can freely explore their thoughts and emotions, free from judgment or discrimination. Additionally, we offer assistance with gender-affirming documentation, adhering to the informed consent model rather than WPATH standards.
At Queer Works, our mission is to provide a welcoming and supportive space for the TGI community, ensuring they have access to the mental health resources required to lead joyful and healthy lives. Importantly, our primary program is offered completely free of charge.
